Big Walk Train Route — Board, Stop & Regroup

A practical railway operating guide for colour-coded trains, group boarding, long item carries, and predictable reunion points.

The island's three trains are useful only after the group knows how to stop one, board together, and recover when somebody misses the platform. This guide covers that operating loop without pretending to list every stop on a complete rail map.

Unlock the railway first

The red, yellow, and green trains begin stationary. To start them:

  1. Reach the Blue Tower at approximately 3540, 1850.
  2. Install five completed challenge pieces in its control panel.
  3. Take the released golden key through all five cutters, following the arrow exposed by each machine.
  4. Carry the final shaped key to the main train station at approximately 3380, 1740, northwest of the tower.
  5. Insert it in the station lock. All three colour-coded trains then begin continuous island loops.

If the tower panel is still empty, use the Blue Tower puzzle route for five nearby challenge solutions. Pieces from other later-island challenges can also fill the panel.

Board without scattering the group

Use a station platform rather than chasing a moving carriage across open ground. Before the train arrives:

  • choose the train by its visible colour, not by an assumed destination;
  • put the slowest or least confident player at the front of the boarding line;
  • keep carried puzzle items in bags where possible;
  • nominate one player to take the first-carriage lever;
  • agree whether the next stop is for disembarking or only for collecting a missing player.

The route loops, so a missed train is a delay rather than a failed journey. Do not make the rest of the party jump off in several different places.

Stop the train for friends

Once aboard, move to the first carriage and hold its lever. That stops the train long enough for the rest of the group to board or catch up.

Use this reliable handoff:

  1. The lever player boards first and goes straight to the control.
  2. Everyone else calls out when they are inside the train, not merely on the platform.
  3. The lever player releases only after the last confirmation.
  4. Before the desired stop, repeat the same call-and-response for getting off.

If the train starts before the group is ready, the player already aboard should remain on it. The loop will bring that train back; the waiting group should stay at the agreed platform.

Recover a separated player

One player missed the train

The missed player stays on the station platform. The onboard group keeps one player at the first-carriage lever and stops on the next pass. A walkie-talkie helps confirm the correct platform, but the train's colour is the most useful shared visual cue.

One player got off too early

Do not split again. Ask the stranded player to remain beside the track or platform where they exited and describe one large landmark. Ride the same colour train around until the group recognizes that point, then stop with the lever.

The group boarded different trains

Pick the main station at 3380, 1740 as the reunion point. Each subgroup stays on its current loop until it reaches the station, then waits off the track. Changing trains repeatedly makes the rendezvous harder to predict.

Use trains for long carries

Trains are most valuable when the party has an oversized key, control-panel piece, or tool that would be easy to drop on a long walk. Put one player in charge of the object and another on the lever. Before leaving a carriage, visually confirm that the item carrier is standing and still has the object.

Friends can interact with items stored on backpacks and hip bags, so say who is responsible for each carried object. A bag reduces accidental drops; it does not make its contents private.

What this route does not claim

The three trains run repeatable loops, but this page does not assign names or a fixed stop order that the game does not show. World navigation is easier after opening the Map Room and reading the portable map. Use visible train colour, station landmarks, and a pre-agreed reunion point instead of relying on an unverified full rail diagram.
