The spyglass challenge is the opening Crosswalk puzzle where one player must keep a button held while another follows a distant red signal to an opened glass case. Releasing the button too early closes access before the runner can collect the red control-panel piece.

Spyglass puzzle is a descriptive label used by this guide, not an official in-game name.

Quick solution

  1. From the crane, continue along the mountain path to the small telescope platform near 3510, 1195.
  2. Leave one player beside the platform button.
  3. The holder presses and continuously holds the button.
  4. A second player follows the red light across the valley to the glass case.
  5. Keep holding until the runner removes the red piece from the open case.
  6. Regroup and carry the piece back to the beach control platform.

Find the telescope platform

Continue uphill from the yellow crane instead of returning to the beach. Look for a small lit platform with a mounted telescope and a waist-high button. Its approximate map-grid reading is 3510, 1195.

The important landmark is the telescope. The group does not need the portable map yet: stand at the control, look through or along the telescope, and find the red-lit case on the opposite slope.

Assign the holder and runner

This challenge has two essential jobs:

Role Job
Holder Stay at the telescope platform and keep the button pressed.
Runner Follow the distant red light, reach the glass case, and remove the piece.

In a two-player session, use one player for each role. With three or more players, extra teammates can watch through the telescope, relay the direction, or wait near the case. The available evidence does not confirm extra required controls for this specific challenge, so follow any additional active targets shown by your current world instead of guessing a fixed count.

Hold the button and signal the route

The holder presses the platform button and does not let go. The distant case lights red while it is open, turning the reward itself into a route marker for the runner.

A player holds the telescope-platform button while a red signal glows across the valley
Keep this platform button held; the distant red light marks the opened reward case for the runner.

The runner should identify the red light before leaving voice range. Point out the first safe section of the route while everyone is together; once the runner is too far away for proximity chat, the fixed red signal remains the dependable guide.

Collect the red piece

The runner reaches the red-lit glass case on the opposite mountainside and removes the red control-panel piece. The holder stays on the button until the piece is visibly out of the case.

Once collected, the case no longer needs to remain open. Regroup before moving to another challenge so the holder does not have to find the party alone.

If the case closes or the runner gets lost

What you see What to change
The distant red light disappears Return to the platform button and hold it continuously.
The runner reaches a closed glass case The holder released too early; press again and wait until the piece is removed.
The runner cannot identify the correct slope Regroup, use the telescope to fix the direction, then send the runner again.
Voice chat fades before the runner arrives Agree on the red light as the final marker before separating; an extra player can relay from midway.
The piece is gone but the group is unsure who has it Regroup at the open case and check the runner carrying the red piece before leaving.

What to do with the reward

Carry the piece to the four-slot beach control platform near 3550, 1100. It is one of the four fixed rewards needed before the Crosswalk key is released.

Use the complete Crosswalk route for the remaining fixed challenges, or solve the nearby Crane Button puzzle if your group has not collected its piece yet.
